Sochi Arboretum

Sochi is full of parks, squares and gardens. The world-famous Arboretum is a must-see. The park, founded in 1889, has become more and more beautiful and interesting throughout its history. Surely all the tourists of the Soviet period had a photo with a sculpture of a rooster from the Sochi Arboretum. The rooster is still there today, but the photos are digital. If you are full of strength and energy, you can walk around the entire arboretum on foot, or you can go up on the funicular that runs from the circus, and then go down. The arboretum consists of an upper and lower part, with many interesting trees, flowerbeds, fountains and sculptures which is a really nice and fit urban route. Villa "Nadezhda", which was built in 1899, is the center of the Arboretum. It became the very heart of the young park of exotic plants, laid a few years earlier by Sergey Khudekov, a famous publicist, publisher and art historian. The owner of the house named it after his beloved wife for a reason as Khudekov put maximum effort, time and, of course, love into every work. The snow-white building looks gracefully against the dense greenery of oaks and beeches, and its wide terraces offer a marvelous view of the sea and the park.

Sea station

Sochi's sea station was built in 1955. The height of the spire is 71 meters. The building of the sea station has two floors, and the tower has three. And over the three tiers of the tower there are installed sculptures as it was required by the architectural style. The stone sculptures represent the four seasons and four sides of the world, and fish frolic above them, which fully support the marine theme. In the square across the street from the station building itself with rosaries laid out, palm trees and Himalayan cedars grow, there is also a fountain 7 meters in diameter. There is a female figure gazing into the distance in the center of the bowl. It is the Navigation. In one hand she holds a map-direction and a sailing ship. The other hand is stretched forward, palm downwards, a gesture with which she calms the sea element, smoothing the waves and giving sailors the long-awaited peace. Pleasure boats, yachts and steamboats leave from the Marine Station to the sea, taking people along the coast. Since 2010, another object that should be seen in the station area is the monument to the heroes of "The Diamond Arm". Semyon Semyonovich Gorbunkov is going on a journey surrounded by his family while and the smuggler Lyolik is sending Gesha Kozodoev to Istanbul for gold and diamonds.
